Challenge Soccer Tryouts

The Macon County Challenge teams will be holding tryouts for several teams to play in the Western North Carolina Challenge League. Bring a birth certificate copy, passport size picture for player card and a refundable $50 to tryouts. Cost covers uniforms, referee fees, backpack (new players), and state registration fees.
Age groups for the Spring will include U13/14 girls, U12 girls, and U12 boys. A traveling ladies High School team is also being planned. U14 players can be 14 if their birthday is on or after August 1, 2009. Each team will play 4 home games in Franklin and 4 away games in the WNC area. Games start in September and run through October. Teams will be formed depending on player interest, coach availability and available divisions in the Western North Carolina Challenge League.

Marlene Lane with Creative Images Photography will be taking pictures again this spring and a portion of every package sold will go directly to the Macon County Soccer Club. You can print out the picture order form to see the various packages and options that are available. Coaches have received the team picture schedule for their team.
Spring soccer coaches will have their first meeting at 2pm on Sunday, March 8th at the soccer fields. Please try to attend if at all possible. Coaches will receive their roster at the meeting and will select their practice times and fields. Over 225 children from Franklin alone have registered for Spring soccer and games are schedule to begin on April 19th. Coaches are still needed in several age divisions. If you are interested in coaching a team please contact our Spring Coaching Coordinator.
All Coaches and assistants are required to complete a Risk Management Application with the NC Youth Soccer Association. We are putting together a coaches clinic with great information to help with with your coaching endeavors. We will also be putting together coaches notebooks with helpful drills and age related DVDs for you use during the season. We will require these items be returned at season end.
The Macon County Soccer Club will begin accepting registrations for the Spring soccer season on Saturday, January 31st from 10 am - 12 pm at the Macon County Community Building in Franklin and at the Highlands Recreation Park in Highlands. Parents are encouraged to print out the registration form online and bring it with them to the registration.
Children age 4 and up are welcome and will be placed on teams according to age. The registration fee is $45 for players returning from the fall season and $55 for new registrations. The registration fee covers uniform (jersey, shorts and socks), state registration and referee fees. A $5 discount is available for siblings. All new players must provide a photocopy of their birth certificate.
