The Macon County Soccer Club is sponsoring a Men’s High School division for this spring. We hope to have teams competing from Highlands, Hayesville, Rabun Gap and Smoky Mountain as well as teams from the Asheville area. We will have home games and away games so some travel will be required Games will be played mostly Saturday afternoons. Roster size is limited to 10 players due to High school rules for coaches. Coaches Ken Neitz and Guy Gooder will coach the Franklin team. Additional teams may be formed if enough players are interested. An informational meeting is being held Thursday, February 21st at 4pm at Franklin High School. For additional information contact Tony Esterwood.

The Macon County Soccer Club board of directors will be holding their annual meeting on Thursday, February 11th at 7:00pm at the Macon County Community Building. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. The board will be discussing plans for the upcoming year and voting in new boards members. Several vacancies exist currently in the board. If you are interested in any of the positions, please contact us.

Challenge Soccer Tryouts
MMS Soccer Field
November 10 and 12
Tuesday and Thursday
5:30-7:00PM
Cost: $110 for returning fall players
$160 for new players
The Macon County Soccer Club is holding Challenge tryouts for the upcoming Spring season. Any interested players can sign up on Tuesday or Thursday. Bring a copy of birth certificate, $60 refundable down payment, and picture for player card. There will be three teams U12 Girls, U12 Boys, and U14 Boys. Registration covers for uniform, ref fees, state registration, and state insurance. There are four home games and four away games in WNC area. Games begin in early March. Players may already be 12 or 14 if birthday is on or after August 1st. Head coaches will be U12 girls Ken Lane 371-1393, U12 boys Joel Scott 349-0964, and U14 boys Frank Cline 349-0022. Call coaches or Tony Esterwood 524-1928 with questions.

The Macon County Soccer Club will host a soccer referee re-certification clinic on Saturday, December 12th from 10:00am to 4:30pm. All currently certified referees that wish to renew their certification are invited to attend. George Gately with the NC Soccer Referees Association will be conducting the clinic. The Macon County Soccer Club is hosting a recreation league soccer referee class on Saturday, October 10th from 10am to 12pm at the Macon County Community Facilities Building. The class is for anyone 12 years and older that would like to referee recreational level games for the MCSC. The MCSC pays referees for each game. Instruction will cover the duties and procedures for center refs and assistant refs. Rules of the games will be reviewed and materials will be given to the attendees.
The MCSC always needs energetic and dependable referees. The club must have referees for Fall and Spring seasons of recreational soccer.
