Board Meeting Minutes

May 8th, 2008 

Members present were: Frank Cline, Jeff Weller, Tony Esterwood, Michelle Thornton, Deanne Opperman, Chris Thornton, Mark Apel, Rita Esterwood, Janet Pruitt, and Charlena Cline.

Meeting

The recreation account had $1898.26, the fields account had $2097.58, and the challenge account had $5017.54.

Michelle Thornton needed a new updated Quicken 2008 program to help with bookkeeping. Tony Esterwood made a motion to purchase this program and Chris Thornton second the motion.

The portable pump system was purchased and $675 was taken out of each of the following accounts: recreation, fields, and challenge.

There will be an early bird sign-up for fall recreation on June 1st from 2 pm - 4pm. The other sign-ups are scheduled for July 7th-11th from 9 am - 11 am during the British Soccer Camp and at the Community Building on July 10th from 6 pm - 8 pm, July 12th from 10 am -12 pm and July 15th from 6 pm -8 pm.

THE SOCCER REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS JULY 15th. There will be a $10 late fee added after this date.

The list of recreation costs and discounts are as follows: early bird registration is $50, regular registration is $55, late registration is $65, and sibling discount is $5. Rita Esterwood made a motion and Chris Thornton second the motion.

There will not be volunteers in the concession stand. People will be recruited and paid $5 per hour. Rita Esterwood made a motion and Mark Apel second the motion.

The board members will pay $25 per child for recreation soccer. Tony Esterwood made a motion and Rita Esterwood second the motion.

There will be a new evaluation sheet made for coaches and the sizes area on the sign up sheet will be adjusted.

Frank Cline will give a letter to the coaches with a list of things needed from them when the season ends and details about a coaches appreciation cookout at 4:30 pm on June 1st.

Hand out flyers on May 18th to coaches about appreciation cookout.

The coaches need to resubmit their risk management for 2008-2009 soccer season @ ncsoccer.org.

Jeff Weller will be the Highlands Coordinator instead of Christy Weller. Janet Pruitt made a motion and Chris Thornton second the motion.

The following soccer board positions are still open: Referee Assignor, Field Coordinator, Safety / Risk Management Coordinator and Equipment.

There are 29 kids signed up for the British Soccer Camp so far.

The old shed will be torn down. Rita Esterwood made a motion and Mark Apel second the motion.

Challenge

We are working on having the following challenge teams: U10-U11, U12 girls, U12 boys, U14 girls, and U16 girls.

The challenge tryouts are scheduled for May 20th at 6 pm and May 22nd at 6 pm.
