February 9, 2006 Macon County Soccer Board Meeting Present: Tony Esterwood, Dee Opperman, Barry Jenkins, Matthew Maple, Danny Knop, Jason Casada, Beverly Stribling, Ken Lane, Matt Bullis Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed. Motion to accept by Matt, seconded by Barry, and all approved. Treasurer’s Report: Field account $4,135.15 Recreation account $9,461.89 Challenge account $3,620.94 Concession: Need to organize a cleaning day before the spring season. Will need help running the concession stand during the spring season when son’s challenge team out of town. Plan to clean on the next field work day. Jason to get challenge parents to help with coverage of the concession stand for their home games. Made approximately $251.00 profit from the fall season. Challenge: Now have six teams for this spring season. Ten home game dates with twenty-four home games in all. Plan to put pictures in paper to help promote the Challenge League. There will be a referee clinic at the end of February to hopefully have more people available to ref games. Matt Maple and Matt Bullis will look into a place for the class to be held. Fund Raising: Nantahala Bank and Trust buying a banner. Still working on their logo, will give it to use when it is ready. Pediatric Associates purchased a banner. Will submit all sponsor names to Gooder Grafix by April 1st for banners to be made. Soccer Camp: Camp will be held July 10-14th this year. Will have morning and all day session, no evening sessions this year. Other camps to be aware of: WCU camp, July 24-28th, and WCU elite camp July 29-August 8th. President’s report: David Rusch to plug fields on Saturday (February 11th) if weather permits. Goal keeping instruction by WCU coach, first Sunday of the first weekend in March. Lee Cloer wants to meet with Tony to talk about what kind of deal can be worked out for setting up the web page. Tony to also try and get in touch with Chris. Irrigation: Landscaping Developing Group came and looked at the pump. Gave a bid of $1,985.00 to put a filtration system on our pump. Also gave bids for a sprinkler system on the fields close to the baseball field, $14,000 and for the large field, $10,500. Matt to approach Parks and Recreation to pay for the filtration system ($1,985.00). Before putting in the new systems need to get grading done on the fields. MCSC to be responsible for the grading of the fields, the possibly get the county to help with the costs of the new systems by putting it into next year’s budget. Matt will confirm that sprinkler heads are included in the filtration system upgrade. Next month’s meeting will be an open meeting at the community building, and will follow spring registration.
